'Deep Brain Stimulation in the Mirror of Criminal Guilt. A Practical and Theoretical Analysis' The thesis deals with the evaluation of deep brain stimulation in the mirror of the criminal guilt principle. It is analysed whether and to what extent occurring side effects can be subsumed under §§ 20, 21 StGB. In addition, normative concepts of guilt are examined for their understanding of freedom of will, autonomy and responsibility and a possible way of dealing with the challenges posed by deep brain stimulation.

Frederike Seitz studierte Rechtswissenschaften und Politikwissenschaften in Würzburg und legte dort 2010 das erste juristische Staatsexamen ab. 2011 erhielt sie den Magister Artrium. Die zweite juristische Staatsprüfung erfolgte 2012 in Passau. Seit 2014 war sie am Lehrstuhl für Strafrecht, Strafprozessrecht, Strafrechtsvergleichung und Rechtsphilosophie von Frau Prof. Dr. Susanne Beck und arbeitete hier hauptsächlich an medizinrechtlichen Fragestellungen. Von 2016-2019 betreute sie überdies das vom BMBF geförderte interdisziplinäre Projekt 'GEENGOV'.
